International Vesak Day Celebration at Sydney
At Sydney Bank Town Hall, a Vesak Day celebration was also organized under the name “Australian Observance of the United Nations Day of Vesak 2015” on Sunday, May 30, 2015. The ceremony started from the opening speech of Phra Khru Vitessudhammayan Vi. Sudhammo, the head of the ceremony board and the president of Buddhist Federation of Australia, and then monks from different sects chanted together. Most importantly, this celebration was paid great attention by Australians and received messages from the Hon. Prime Minister Tony Abbott, UN Secretary-General, H.E.
